iPhone rescue with TN police
In December, while traveling from Chennai Central to Arakkonam, I had a terrible experience. A man suddenly rushed and stole my iPhone 11. I had recently suffered a great loss—my sister and brother died while playing, and the photos of them were stored on that phone. I handled the situation on my own. I filed a complaint at the AJJ and Prembhur police stations. The next day, I asked my office mates for help in getting my phone back, but they didn’t assist me, so I bought a new one. I then started tracking my old phone using Find My Device. There’s a feature called Find My Device, and its mechanism works so well. It automatically connects with nearby devices anonymously and shares the location. I was familiar with it, as I work in cybersecurity. After buying the new phone, I started tracing my old phone using Find My iPhone, which uses GPS, making the location accurate. This helped me believe that I could retrieve my phone. For a few days, I was just tracing it without a plan. I noticed that the phone was moving around, and then it would turn off at the same location. On day 4, I visited the location to oversee things. On day 6, I contacted the crime department and informed them of the situation, telling them that I knew the exact location. On day 7, we went to the location with them. When we arrived, we found out that the thief had no parents and was being cared for by his grandmother. I started a conversation with her, asking if she needed a loan or life insurance. As time went on, we learned that her grandson used to repair phones, which raised suspicions. I called him 10-15 times from his grandmother's phone, and he finally came. He tried to avoid the situation, saying that he didn’t know anything and didn’t want to go to the police. But we mentally pressured him by saying we would take his grandmother to the police. Eventually, he confessed, telling us what had happened and who was behind it. In the end, I got my phone back. But, it’s important to be cautious about locations, especially while traveling on an express train. Basin Bridge – Villivakkam (I learned that many of the thieves are from North Madras.) Be safe and have a happy journey.3
