Relieving Notice to 4 Employees by IT company in Chandigarh

My company has given notice to 4 senior Employees saying that we don't have much work. On the other side the boss says in every meeting that we are doing good. It is really very confusing situation for other employees. What do you think? Is this the situation in every organisation because this is the first time I have seen this in my entire 7 years of career.
