Rats have become a Menace

This is the 3rd time rats have caused inconvenience, First time it was with the indicator wire and second time the engine sound dampening sponge and this time with the AC compressor. These are the things I've tried soo far yet outcome was negative, 1. Bitter spray: it was effective only for two weeks at max and wore off soon, once it did, the entry of rats started again. 2. Tobacco : it's pretty hazardous I felt cuz my Creta is a diesel and it heats up like its nature is and felt it can be a hazard anytime. 3. Rat poison : This is my last resort and I've kept it around the car. Hoping for the best results. If anyone has any other ideas to get rid of rats do let me know guys it'll be of great help!
