Cars vs Bikes
I've, said it countless times and will say it again "INDIA is not a CAR ECONOMY" nor can it ever be. With an area of 32.87 lakh KMs and a population of 1.42 billion humans. With an approximate population density of 488 people per square KM, there's not enough landmass to accommodate so many cars, we are already seeing absurd inflation in real estate. Because tbh, in the usable land we don't have enough space (capitalism aside) to accommodate every individual. (A joint family is a necessity for a country like India) With only 8% households having cars the metro cities are filled with traffic you can barely reach anywhere at your convenience. People will blame infra forever but will never understand the geographic constraints. As we get to higher income Indians will face the same fate like "SG" hence a lot of times I feel the absurd taxes are justified 'the congestion tax in Delhi can be an example'. We have to move to a public transport economy! Let's talk about income, with an average per capita of $2300 & the range of cars starting with $5K we are from even the affordability point of view. If we consider the finance rules, the per capita has to be over $10K without accounting for inflation to even think of an average individual to get a car! Having a car is nice, but this whole argument doesn't even make sense, y'all are barking in an echo Chamber.3
