Buying unused unsold EV a good idea?
I have decided to buy an EV with a tight budget. Went to the dealer and found a sweet deal (almost 50% discount) on a 2023 June manufactured, pre facelift variant of a car that is a category above what I was expecting to buy in my budget. Now the thing is that this car has been sitting in the dealers inventory for about 1½ years now and it is almost brand new with 3 km on the odometer and 44% SoC. I believe this vehicle was never charged after it left the factory. I have inspected the vehicle and there is no obvious flaw with this unit other than a bit of rust on a few exposed bare metal parts and some dust. The paint quality and everything else is in perfect condition. Only thing I am worried about with this vehicle is the battery health. It is an LFP lithium battery pack that has been sitting idle in Indian weather conditions for 1½ years. This car has exceptionally low idle drain so I believe it has never been charged even once. However, the dealer promises that we will be getting the full 8 year or 1,60,000 km battery warranty from the manufacturer from the day of purchase of this vehicle as with any other new car. Will it be a good idea to go for this vehicle? What are the other catches I am probably overlooking? TLDR: Unsold new car manufactured 1½ years ago and never charged again after leaving factory with 44% battery charge percentage remaining today... How badly has the battery degraded?5
