Two Bollywood adaptations of a Hollywood Classic, I personally liked. (Romance)
Ok, first of all its my personal list, I won't talk about all the adaptations but two of them I loved the most 1) Love Story: If you think, Titanic is the most tragic love story in Hollywood, Do watch this movie. Now talking of it's adaptations in Bollywood - Ankhiyon ke Jharokhon se: This is a very well made movie by Rajshri productions, the tear jerking moments are very authentic plus music works as a catalyst (the title track itself has a feeling of Melancholy in it). The movie left me heartbroken for a week - Sanam Teri Kasam: Ok, so my take on this this movie is based on the time I watched it first (back in 2016 or 2017). Sanam Teri Kasam back then was a movie that wasn't very hyped up and was only gained popularity because of the trending (For that time) song "Tu Khinch meri Photo". Thanks to that song, movie gathered an audience. I was a fan of this movie for a very long time (I still consider it a decent movie) so Yes you can say, I am amongst those people who called this movie and "Underrated gem". The movie is good (The dialogue of Love Story - "love means you never have to say you're sorry" was also recreated in a decent way), but I think all the drama and Chaprification by the legendary fans is kinda making this movie look a bit cringe (Trust me, it's not) 2) A star is Born: Watched The Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's one but not the OG - Abhimaan: *Tere mathe lage hai yoon ke jaise chanda tara, jiya me chamke kabhi kabhi to jaise koi angara*. Abhimaan is one movie that deals with matters like insecurity, jealousy and Pride. The movie is not a full remake of ASIB but is hugely adapted.. The music, the acting and the direction.. all are on point. Story dealing with the glamourous world of singers was shown in such a subtle manner, that was the Expertise of Hrishikesh da. The best highlight, IMO, is the music of SD Burman sahab... Every track Abhimaan Album is worth appraisal - Aashiqui 2:- The movie is known for its beautiful soundtrack and the movie that made ARK and Shraddha Kapoor popular. The movie itself is quite amazing but, just like Sanam Teri Kasam, the movie is heavily chaprified in the following years. 3) It happened one night:- A classic Rom-com that even worked for Bollywood - Chori Chori:- A classic Raj Kapoor - Nargis starer Rom-Com that was genuinely funny and entertaining. The album of Chori Chori has some really beautiful tracks like "Panchi banu udti phirun", "Yeh Raat Bheegi bheegi" and "Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni me hum tum". For the kind of romance we had back then, this movie was quite ahead of it's time, IMO -DHKMN:- Just like Chori Chori, DHKMN is also a fun and entertaining movie. I personally enjoyed the Chemistry between Pooja Bhatt and Aamir Khan. The movie is a rom-com no one talks about. A light hearted family movie with genuinly funny and goofy scenes and a movie that will bring a smile to your face by the time it ends. I love Chori Chori but I found DHKMN a little more entertaining. Talking of the music, DHKMN album is one of the Saloon and Bus favourites with the gems like "Tu Pyar hai kisi aur ka, tujhe chahta koi aur hai"; "Adayen bhi hai, Mohabbat bhi hai, Shararat bhi hai mere mehboob me". Composed by Nadeem Shravan, the kind of songs we all enjoy and appreciate secretly. Please type down your favourite adaptation of a Hollywood (infact international or even regional) romantic classic.3
