Think about it—when was the last time you saw a film that truly represented the North East? High chances you haven’t. Cinema isn’t just entertainment. It shapes how a country sees itself and how people understand one another. And it’s not like the North East lacks compelling stories. Films about the region could not only celebrate its uniqueness but also bridge the gap of understanding between the North East and the rest of the country. COVID shook Bollywood to its core, but instead of experimenting with fresh narratives, they seem to be retreating into their comfort zones, churning out massy or horror flicks that guarantee safe returns.
