In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, why did Rahul fall in love with Anjali?

I don’t get what changed the 2nd time from the 1st time. How did Rahul see Anjali as more than a good friend that time? Also, was it just a movie goof that Anjali’s wedding ring was on her right hand in the rain dance scene?
