Restaurants Using Plastic Wrappers for Steaming Hot Idlis

I recently noticed something really concerning at a local restaurant. They were steaming hot idlis wrapped in plastic! I’m not sure if they’re doing it to keep the shape intact or for convenience, but it feels so wrong on so many levels. First off, isn’t this unsafe? Plastic and heat don’t mix well — I can’t imagine the chemicals it might release into the food. Secondly, it’s just unnecessary! Idlis have been steamed perfectly fine for generations without using plastic. I love eating idlis, but this practice has made me rethink where I get them from. Shouldn’t there be some kind of regulation against this? Or is this just something people turn a blind eye to? Anyone else noticed this happening? Would love to hear your thoughts or if you’ve seen this elsewhere!
