How can I learn Kannada effectively?

I’ve been living in Bangalore for 4 years and have always wanted to learn Kannada. Initially, most of my conversations in college were in English or Hindi. After starting work, I began picking up bits of Kannada from local friends and can now understand most conversations. I want to take it further and learn the language properly. Any tips, resources, or strategies you’d recommend? Should I try formal lessons or just immerse myself more in daily conversations?
