Infrastructure needs to step up
I’ve visited multiple Indian cities and towns across states, over multiple years. Honestly, after my time in bangalore I’d say the infrastructure is more akin to a small town than any of the large cities. Mumbai has the local which is a great way to quickly get across the city. New Delhi has the metro and its connectivity is world class. Kolkata has older public transport that serves it decently well. Bangalore has buses but after having tried them I wouldn’t say they compare to the previous options due to the traffic and bumpy roads. The new metro is painfully slow to build and already seems to be at capacity. My company is outsourcing jobs to India and we need to consider the growth of a city over the next several years when planning where to build a new and larger office, and honestly Bangalore needs to get its act together and catch up with the rest. Right now it’s the hottest city for technical jobs, but it’s hard to see that sustain past the next 5 years with the inability to fix its infrastructure problem. If there’s anyone in government on this subreddit, please take note of the complaints.5
