Disturbing incident near Vasanthpura Sai Baba Temple
This happened around 10:45pm last night. There was a boy probably around 6-7 years standing by the road & trying to stop every vehicle by saying "uncle uncle". My friends and I were passing through that junction. When we heard him we immediately made a UTurn to ask him what the issue was (I've read horrific stories about these kids being a bait to mugging or worse but the child looked really distressed and we wanted to give him a chance). By the time we did, an auto driver who was commuting with his family had stopped and the child had climbed in. We caught up with the auto, by then the child had given them some info. The auto had the driver and his sisters. They too were skeptical about this child being a bait but since we stopped they too found some courage to pursue this further. The women told me the child claims he can't see and is saying he wants water but they knew he was reacting that way because he was panicked. We gave the boy some water and he claimed to have lost his way home. The women noticed he was carrying about 20 rupees and when asked he said his mom sent him out to buy sugar. But it was almost 11pm - which shop would be open? He kept saying his house was near the temple (few metres from where we were) and when brought him near the temple he said he lived near Vasanthpura (where we initially were). He was panicking and wasn't speaking. We tried probing further until we noticed burn scars all over his body with two big ones being very new. The women and my friend did most of the talking with the boy who told them that his mother did the scars on him. I had called 112 by then and Hoysala were on their way. Not even once did the boy express he didn't want to go home. He made it seem like he wants to go home. The cops took charge, and the boy reached home. But something was amiss, their dynamics were off. Our guess is that one of the parent/both the parents are not his biological parent(s) because he and his brother were 1/2 years apart and there was another toddler <1 year and only this boy and his brothers had scars. The police took full charge and took them to the police station and did a thorough enquiry and requested all of us to leave assuring us that they'll take care of this. The woman kept telling the police that he got the scars because he was trying to fry happlas when he was alone the cops didn't believe her. The cops reassured us that they would take care of this case. I can't stop thinking about the boy. What else can I do - is there any child support NGO that can take over this case? The place and the people seemed very murky and I don't want to get involved. Is there any support group that can take over this and oversee this? We know his house.4
