Dealing with the worst roommates ever—how do I survive this?
For a little background, I'm a third-semester college student in bangalore, reluctantly sharing a hostel room with two weirdos. Out of the two, one is an absolute pain in the a**. I swear this guy has a split personality—inside the room, he acts like he knows you, but the moment he steps out, you're a total stranger. That doesn't bother me as much now as it used to, but what does is his complete disregard for personal space. He spends the entire day talking to his gf at full volume—so loud that even headphones can’t drown it out. Confronting him earns you a judgmental stare and maybe a barely noticeable volume decrease. Basic etiquette? Nonexistent. He uses the washroom and doesn’t even bother to flush, no matter what he did in there. The other day, I walked in to find his mess still there, and when I called him out, he had the audacity to ask me to flush it for him. When I brought it up in front of others, he twisted the situation to make himself look right and shut me down with complete nonsense. Then there’s the dynamic between the two of them. They turn the room into a chaotic mess, making it impossible to breathe. They're best friends (apparently), which means I’m the outsider—ironic, considering they begged me to stay when I originally had other plans. They spend their time cursing each other’s families, throwing out the most absurd insults at any hour of the day, morning or midnight. I don't know what they feel good about mentioning in random conversations where I'm from and stereotyping me for it (I mean, at first, I used to feel that it is for fun, and now that it's repetitive, it feels more of a personal attack). Honestly, I have a lot of things to vent about, but I feel I'll get short of a post to mention all of those. And just hope to get out of this mess as soon as possible! Suggestions are appreciated.2
