Annoying men on Church Street/MG Road/Brigade Road

Who are these annoying men on Church Street, Brigade Road etc. who pounce at unsuspecting women with "Hiiii, how are you? Are you from Bangalore?" What are they selling? Yelled at 2 of them on Church Street today for doing that to me. Why do these guys think it's okay to stop random women on the road and start talking to them like they know them? This is India. An extremely unsafe country for women. We do not want to be approached by over-friendly, creepy men on streets. Next time I experience this, I'll take videos or photos and post on the Bangalore Police Twitter account.
