Why do Indian parents have the same high expectations but not provide the same quality of life?

How do they have high expectations for their kids but don’t provide the same quality of life? A daily wage laborer wants his son to be an IITian, and a teacher wants his daughter to be an IITian. It’s like investing a small amount but expecting high profits. How is that possible?
