Why are so many workers from the Gulf coming back to India?

I hope this doesn't come off as offensive. I'm genuinely curious. My college is in a pretty muslim dominated area. A good chunk of teenagers I know were born and brought up in the UAE or Saudi and Oman. But moved here for education. I didn't want to ask them directly. (Obviously) How common is this? And what are the reasoning?
