Is mtech from iit worth it and treated same as btech from iit Or even better?

If someone completes their btech from tier 3 college and then does mtech from tier 1 or 2 college, will he be preffered over someone who has done btech from tier 1 college? Is it worth the efforts or should one get a job with lower package and keep switching? Te job market seems pretty bad rn and doesn't seem to recover in future too, so please suggest accordingly.
