Are things shown in the film ‘Mrs.’ still existing in the society? To that extent?

*This is not a movie comparison post between the original and the remake. I have watched both and found them both very well made* Having grown up in a relatively democratic household with shared responsibilities at home, I fortunately never had to witness such extreme patriarchy either with my mother or even my sister in law. Are New Gen men also so demanding to the extent of making their wives do absurd practices like getting the husband’s slippers out and ready before he comes or leaving the dinner table in a mess for the ladies afterwards, or even being so specific and particular about the food being prepared in a certain way that it is thrown away if not, or that many others as shown in the film? I know older generation men did it, because i have heard my grandfather used to do it. But my father sort of broke the chain and changed viewpoints. And do older women in such houses uphold this patriarchy? Does such staunch patriarchy exist more in houses where men earn really well and make their wives stay away from working because as the husband’s brother is heard saying in the film “my wife is a working woman, so she throws all these tantrums and I have to bear them”
