Why reddit is not as mainstream as twitter?

Title as it all but why tweets go viral, news spread through tweets like fire, tweets influence & shift political, social, emotional decisions in short twitter is maimstream why not reddit why opinions on reddit never go as viral as twiter or other platforms.
