Why are we so obsessed with the American dream?
I don’t get why we Indians are so fixated on the American dream. Yes, the US has top universities, higher salaries, and better recognition for skills. But is it really worth it when the country itself is making policies that put its own citizens at a disadvantage? Look at the impact of H-1B visa rules. Many Americans have been fired or forced to leave their jobs because companies prefer hiring immigrants at lower wages. It’s cheaper for them, but in the long run, it creates frustration among locals, leading to resentment and even violence. And this isn’t just about the US—it can happen in any country where immigration is rising rapidly. Instead of blindly chasing the US, why not explore other countries where skilled workers are actually in demand? Many places genuinely need immigrants because they lack talent in specific fields. These countries offer better job security, easier visa processes, and a more welcoming environment. It's important to think long-term. Why struggle in a country where locals might see you as competition when you can choose a place where your skills are truly valued? Play it smart, choose wisely, and focus on where you can grow safely without unnecessary struggles.5
