Why are we becoming light skinned?

In my general observation, I saw kids having light skin than there parents. In my family for example both my grandparents are brown, my parents are light skinned and also I am a little pale than my parents. As global temperature is increasing shouldn't we be more tanned. Is this the effect of use of beauty products? Or is it because we tend to stay indoors than our previous generation?
