Where does all the money donated by the rich go?

Gautam Adani donated 10,000 crores following his son's wedding according to news. Huge, right? Now my issue is, where does this money go? How is it distributed to people or the needy? Even a small amount of this money might change someone's life, so do they keep track of how it gets to people, we have also heard of many celebrities or wealthy people donating but does this money actually serve the purpose or is it all for show?
