What would entice you to become a member of a Management Committee of your Society/Apartment Complex/Villa

I have been trying to understand what is it that makes a person or more so what type of person or persons are interested in becoming Management Committee or Executive Committee Members. also goes without saying, apartments are generally in Tier1 and Tier2 cities. Smaller and cities and towns with less hustle and bustle are generally single unit houses (the envy is palpable) thank you!
