What exactly happens to the money we donate for poverty alleviation and hunger reduction in India?

Genuinely curious and want to understand this. Especially from people who have on ground/insider exposure to this. Funds through NGOs which feed hungry children, people in need, the abandoned old, clothes and shoes for children etc. What is the percentage that actually trickles down to those in need? Has private donations played a roles in bringing down abject poverty in India over the last 10-15 years? PS- This is not a post intended to malign all NGOs or bodies doing such work. It is God’s work if it is being done properly and Im sure many do it. I just want to understand the overall true picture. Breaks my heart nearing 2025 to still see poverty especially that involving young children. Just want to learn more about donations and impact of it.
