The Unspoken Racism in Nagaland: A Growing Concern
Why does no one talk about the racism in Nagaland? Apart from the Nagas, people from other tribes are often referred to as "Miya," and discrimination is widespread. The local Nagas are often extremely rude and arrogant, behaving in a way similar to "gunda" (goons). Recently, a new rule has been introduced by the locals, making it mandatory for every business owner to hire at least one Naga employee, essentially enforcing a reservation-like system. Additionally, illegal taxation is imposed on non-Naga people. While it's true that Nagas face racism outside their state, there is also significant discrimination within Nagaland against outsiders. Yet, no one speaks about it. If this continues, the situation could become worse than in Bangalore.4
