SpiceJet scam! (Rant)

Hello community! If you don’t want ruin your Sunday morning, you can choose not to read further! Today morning, I was travelling from Kolkata to Guwahati via Bagdogra. My choice of flight carrier was SpiceJet (sigh)! It’s a tale as old as time, excess baggage issues! Ofcourse most of us are aware and don’t really carry excess baggage in flight or we pre book the add on baggage. Spice Jet Kolkata has a habit of measuring laptop bags, clothes, snacks if you plan on a quick snack on the way and everything in between. I feel it’s a bit strange as in my 20years of travelling never have I ever had to go through this. However, everything was within the specified weight apart from the food and snacks I was carrying ( I had a long journey from Guwahati on road so I carried some ). Nothing was flagged at the counter, but they had a problem at the gates. I was asked to pay 500/kg or have it thrown away. I feel it’s a bit ridiculous to first, be petty like they have to ask for a payment for carrying food. Second, not flagging this in the counter ( I could have just given it off to my brother who was outside). It might be not much of a big deal for some, but I feel this is a complete deal breaker in terms of customer service and the brand image. I guess I should heard when people told me that SpiceJet is absolute trash! Oh brownie points for having an aircraft which looks pre world war! I thought this might be the end of me! I would absolutely would not recommend anyone to fly SpiceJet. What are your thoughts and experience with SpiceJet?
