Random- thought - I think women were suppressed during old times or even early 1900s because society was scared of them
Pre Script- I had posted this yesterday, but I took it down. But, some responses are making me a lot curious. So, I am reposting this with some more clarification. In our religion, women were glorified and even praised. We have some Goddess as well. But, despite all that, women were suppressed in the society. They were not allowed to do most of the things that men could do. I think this was because society was scared of women. 1. One reason could be that women could be one-person army if they were independant. And that would not only hurt the ego of the men, but also, not justify the difference in gender (gender ratio). Why would society want more men, if women too could do the same tasks ? 2. Another reason of this fear would also be the power of birth. Even though, both sperm and ovum (or whatever scientific term is used) are required for a child, the complete development of a child happens in the ovum. Now, there are things that women cannot and/or should not do. And there are things that men cannot and/or should do. **I am talking about things that both women and men could do, but women were not allowed to do so.**3
