figuring out what to do...
this is gonna be a little long, I feel so lost I'm 20f, in 3rd year of btech. I initially had the same interest like anyone in comp Sci - coding, webdev, nlp. but I'm slowly rethinking my interests bc 1. I'm not as talented 2. it's not that satisfying. I can't sit for hours together on one project (I've alr worked on a few and it's driven me insane) I became an editor/proofreader from my love of reading novels/manhwa and eventually found paying positions recently but it's kinda temp. I want to find a full time one of possible but I'm not sure if they'll accept my volunteering as experience (I prefer to work for fiction novels, not newspapers) eventually I got into learning korean/Japanese to become a translator. it's on high demand but it'll take time to get myself proficient. other than that, I started to learn resin art to make earrings and pendants. I could sell it but not regularly and in mass. I have been seeing a lot of people using printify-- I Want to try doing it because as someone who loves anime, you can't find the design you want. I recently spoke to my mom, she asked me what I was gonna do after masters (which I'm questioning again because if I'm gonna work in editing/translation, I don't need a masters in computer science) and I replied some freelance work here and there she kinda got mad saying what's the use of the btech degree then (imo it is only for the barely existing networking) and that I should work full-time on something related to cs while pursuing freelance. I get where shes coming from but I'd rather work on my own pace for 3 different clients than work for the next 40 years in Infosys. desk jobs is one thing I cannot do I have tried video editing- it's hard, I had to sit for hours straight just to make a 10 min video. end result was ok but I guess it's not for me... I love photography but it's the one hobby I don't want to monetize bc it would kill the fun. other hobbies ok but not this one I've even thought about teaching English or all subjects for lower class students like a tuition teacher, content writing bc I love writing. it's my goal to travel the world and try their cuisines and culture while taking photos and I gotta save for that too. I'd also need to start investing and save for emergencies. I know freelanve is unstable but if I have a few skills in my box I think I can tackle it. please advice. what should or shouldn't I do?3
