Experience on buying Mobile from Amazon !!

A lot of scams going on nowadays ... Sellers sending soap/stones/refurbished mobiles products, so I thought of contacting Amazon before placing order. Contacted support chat and said I will order mobile, which is an electronic device, so I won't pay before I open box. The agent said open box are only for certain electronic items and some mobiles, not every mobile. He told me to make a phone call on Amazon support and talk about it. The agent on the phone told me to make full video of the opening the box and checking the item before giving the delivery boy the OTP. So, ordered Moto g45 via Cash on delivery. Delivery boy came and asked for OTP. I told him I want to open package first, then only I give OTP as I already got confirmation from support team. He showed me the plastic wrap in which Amazon packs the actual item. He told me to carefully look at the white plastic wrap and if there is no tear and hole, then it's okay. I asked him what if inside the plastic wrap the mobile box is damaged and the mobile has scratches? He said it's not his lookout. I said I confirmed with customer care team multiple times but the delivery boy said he won't open without OTP. He marked the order as delivery rejected. I'm wondering what if I had received the product and it turned out refurbished? Then, days of continuous calling Amazon, waiting for Amazon to pick up mobile, sending mobile back to seller and then again receiving too much headache and time loss. What do you think? I did right thing or?
