Does anyone else feel that Amazon India's customer service is beyond dogshit now?
TLDR: Customer service is a complete 180° from what it used to be when Amazon first entered the market. It's deliberately designed to severely test the patience of the Indian consumer. REACHING CUSTOMER CARE: The automated IVR is useless for anything other than the most basic requests. It's almost impossible to get in touch with a real person. Getting one is trial and error. I once literally wrote down the combination of options I need to enter to talk to a real person because of how convoluted it is now. Before there was a dedicated option to immediately talk to customer care. The callback feature on the app and website is 50-50 because sometimes it redirects you back to the IVR options. When it does start the process to connect you to an agent it takes forever. TALKING TO CC: Amazon must have a policy of making sure that only people who fail to meet average IQ standards end up on their customer service teams. These mindless zombies can't do anything besides recite from a script. One time my order was held up at the collection center for two whole days after the due date while the tracking page showed it as being out for delivery. When I asked what was going on, the agent said she would escalate it and told me to wait 24 hours. Next day, nothing. Called them again. "Saar will escalate again, saar". Waited again. Again, nothing. When I called again and they told me to wait yet another day while they escalated I shouted at the agent till he connected me to a supervisor. This intellectual finally realized that his team is full of idiots and contacted the delivery center directly. After a few scripted apologies my package finally arrived, 5 days late. Sometimes the supervisor can't contact the delivery center. Sometimes he can. I suppose it all depends on lunar alignment or some other mystical phenomenon. THREATS WORK: If you're dealing with constant delays in delivery, return or refund, the only way to get results is to yell at the CC agents. I hate myself for doing it but NOTHING ELSE WORKS. Patience is the last thing you need to exercise when dealing with Amazon customer care. Verbal abuse is the norm not the exception. I've tried politely asking to connect to a supervisor but apparently each time there would be no senior available. When I threaten to report them by name via email, guess what? A supervisor magically enters the call. Even this can take listening to up to 10 minutes of irritating hold music before it happens. WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS TWITTER: There have been plenty of times when even the supervisor is as useless as his subordinates. The next step is to rant on Amazon's twitter page. This usually ends up with someone on their social media team calling you to vomit from another script after you explain the problem to them from the start and they fumble around with the order history. While they figure out how to untangle the mess the idiots on their CC and delivery team created, you'll be forced to wait another 2 days before you even get an update. Not delivery, just an update. DELIVERY BOYS: I literally want to beat these pos to death with my bare hands every single time I interact with them. I refuse to call them delivery "executives" because they are immature children with the IQ and EQ of a used condom. They'll never answer your call. Sometimes it's the wrong number. In case of a COD/card payment they'll forget to bring a card reader. When they show up at home, they don't even look at you. They just shove the package in your face while staring at their phone. Rudeness seem to be a job requirement because any time you ask them a question related to the delivery (which is their job btw) it's taken as a personal insult. There are many times where they simply drop my package outside my door without even ringing the doorbell no matter how expensive it is. Scheduling a delivery for a certain time slot is pointless as those idiots will show up whenever they want. If I had three wishes from a genie one of them would definitely be to break the limbs of all Amazon delivery boys working in my city. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. Expect shit service after placing your order 2. Threatening and abusing cc agents is the only way to get results in case of delays 3. Resist the urge to stab delivery boys even though they deserve it Rant over. Tell me your thoughts. If you agree with me, kudos. If you don't, idc.5
