Do 1st generation lawyers really struggle to earn well?

Few of the people I encountered who're advocates - claims to borrow money for survival, upon asking about their profession - they take so much pride - recently was watching this "Maamla Legal Hai" on Netflix (didn't watch full) - in which they've highlighted the condition of Lawyers in India in comic way. Is that a concern really huge? Because, the comic exceeds the limit when they're being literally compared with those small street vendors and auto drivers who tug your shirt asking kaha jaoge.
