Dealing with the Indian Mother in law's orders and opinions.Your suggestions?

Married to a conventionaly cool person but his only living parent (his MOM) is pretty conservative so just for some background...whenever I go to India, I can't wear what I want for example no leggings that match my skin colour, no off shoulder tops basically anything that may show a lot of skin.no bright lipstick etc. She tried to tell me to change once when she had moved abroad with us but I told her no one bothers here so she could take a chill pill. I am constantly also living in anxiety whenever she stares in disapproval of my makeup. I grew up in an open and forward thinking environment and this contstant fear of living in anxiety whenever I wear what I'd like to is getting to me. She also has the habit of not letting me cook anything in peace without her not needed* suggestions. Any tips as fellow Indians?.
