Caught in the Middle A Friend’s Affair and an Unexplained death Need suggestion should I keep it to myself?
Hi everyone, This is an update on a post I made six months ago. Back then, I shared how my neighbor, a 26M who I’m not very close with, started opening up to me about an affair he was having with a 32-year-old woman from our colony. She’s married with two kids. It started when I began taking nightly walks after dinner, and we would chat. At first, I thought it was just random conversations, but then he started sharing a lot about his affair. To be honest, I found it gross, but I didn’t say much because I don’t consider him a close friend. Over time, he got more comfortable talking about it and even showed me intimate pictures of them together, which I found really uncomfortable and weird. Everyone in our colony knew about the affair since it’s hard to hide these things. His family eventually found out and tried to stop him by keeping him at home. During this time, he got drunk one day and told me about a plan to kill the woman’s husband so they could be together. It sounded crazy, and I didn’t think he was serious. But I was scared at the thought of something like that happening. I didn’t do anything about it because I thought if something did happen, people would already suspect them since everyone knew about the affair. Fast forward to now I've been away from home for my master’s degree, and it’s been over six months since the last post. I came home today for my semester break and found out that the woman’s husband suddenly passed away five days ago. He was just 33. I don’t know what to think. Part of me remembers what my friend drunkenly told me, and it’s making me uneasy. My mom mentioned that he hasn’t left the house for the past 5–6 days and hasn’t been going to work. I have no proof of anything, but the whole situation feels wrong. Should I keep this to myself, or is there something I should do? I’m genuinely confused and need advice on how to handle this.5
