Are you rich enough to help the so called poor???
If you go to Church Street in Bangalore, you see people selling flowers. They send their kids to beg people to buy flowers or sometimes to ask for food. Many people feel bad and give them money – ₹100, ₹200, or even ₹1,000. The flowers cost only ₹50 for 20 roses, but people still give big amounts to help. These kids make more than ₹2,000 every day. They work from 4 PM to 12 midnight. And on most days, it’s like hitting a jackpot when some rich guy blows thousands of rupees on them out of kindness. I asked one of these kids where all the money goes because they earn so much. He told me some of the families invest the money in land or houses. They save up and use it to secure their future. But not everyone does this. He also told me about his brother, who is an auto driver on Church Street. All the money this kid earns goes to his brother, but instead of doing anything useful, his brother wastes it all on cricket betting. It made me think – are we really rich enough to help them like this? We go through so much to earn our money, dealing with stress, tension, and hard work. Then we give it away thinking it’s for a good cause, but we don’t even know where it goes. Sometimes it’s invested, but other times it’s just wasted.5
