Am I the problem, or is it the education system here that's wrong?? [A rant here btw, Feel free to share ur opinions too]
I just happened to get my half semester results today and they were just appaling, the sad part is I studied so hard trying to understand each and every concept before writing the exam (A final semester computer science btech student here btw). Ever since the beginning, my dad, family members and all my family friends/connections who've been in the IT industry for many years have told me to chase knowledge and not the grades. But next year, I wanna pursue my masters, and what do these unis look at?? YESS, MY Goddamn grades :( Don't get me wrong, I've not failed...But I honestly feel I am capable of more, but everytime I understand and write the exam, I always fuck up the test, but whenever I memorize and write random shit in the paper (Sometimes I dont even have a clue abt what I learnt and clearly just memorized it which I'd forget once the exam's over), I end up getting good grades in that paper!!! Not just that, why is it always that the time for completing the given curicullum is never enough??? Teachers just rush and teach, just for the sake of it, and we students are the ones whoget blamed at the end for not studying and understanding properly. Honestly, I'm just fed up with this country's education system, no matter how much we understand and study, we don't get rewarded for it. And when these same people leave India where understanding/actual knowledge is valued more than rote learning, most of our citizens just wonder why they leave India and don't bother seeing how wrong our education system is. From the time I joined middle school, All I can remember is me studying, not getting time to relax/unwind cause of school, and now college, and just when i thought I could be free, I have to do this internship rn till June. Every indian student goes thru so much pain, pressure, self doubts, abuse, all for what?? To not be able to understnd and learn, instead to memorize shit and then not perform well at jobs, or outside India. What do y'all think abt this?? I literally have just 1 more exam to complete this semester, but I just dont feel like I studied jackshit in my entire uni life tbh, And I'm just not feeling calm or happy lately thinking abt my life in India in general, as I (many other students like me too) have lost our childhoods, mental peace, happiness (Literally every single fight which happened at my house after I got into middle school was related to my studies), a stress free life, good surroundings, etc. While at the same time, some of my online friends from USA, Australia or Europe don't seem to have such issues with their lives and they actually seem to be happier with much more benefits, plus a happy childhood (Hearing their childhood experiences and their lives rn where they have their own cars, get to live independently by earning money doing whatever they want without judgement, and so on just makes me emotional af).4
