Recent history of Andhra cities?
Asking this question out of my opinion - that cities (except Hyderabad and to some extent, Vizag) of the Telugu states have not developed in terms of trade, public infra, culture, etc as much as the cities of other South and West Indian states did. Having spent some time in average Tier-2 cities such as Hubli, Salem, Amravati (Vidarbha, one of the most backward regions of Maharashtra), I feel these have much better roads, public transport, shared sense of history, culture, and belonging than compared to, say, Nellore, Kurnool, and Guntur. Also, while AP cities have many rich people, the quality of life here feels lacking because of bad roads, open gutters, poor health, and individualism (less sense of community). While I'm aware of the history of Telangana that explains this disparity, I'm curious about the case of Andhra. Any readings that you can point to would be a bonus. Thanks!5
